Here is some vocabulary from this edition. Do you know what the words mean?

amateur
someone who does an activity just for pleasure, not as their job

attire
clothes

buffet
a meal at a party or other occasion, in which people serve themselves at a table and then move away to eat

coincide
to happen at the same time as something else, especially by chance

convey
to communicate or express something, with or without using words

coziness
a feeling of being warm, comfortable, and safe

crucial
something that is crucial is extremely important, because everything else depends on it

dampen
to make something slightly wet

dialysis
the process of taking harmful substances out of someone’s blood using a special machine, because their kidneys do not work properly

diverse
very different from each other

embark
to go onto a ship or a plane, or to put or take something onto a ship or plane

Francophone
having French as a first or main language

harsh
conditions are difficult to live in and very uncomfortable

infrastructure
the basic systems and structures that a country or organization needs in order to work properly, for example roads, railways, banks etc

legalization
the act of making something legal that was previously against the law

matriculation
to officially begin studying at a university or college

medal
a flat piece of metal, usually shaped like a coin, that is given to someone who has won a competition or who has done something brave

mesmerized
cannot stop watching them or listening because something is so attractive or powerful

mishap
a small accident or mistake that does not have very serious results

momentum
the force to keep moving

physiotherapy
a treatment that uses special exercises, rubbing, heat etc to treat medical conditions and problems with muscles

plough
a piece of farm equipment used to turn over the earth so that seeds can be planted

poignant
making you feel sad or full of pity

pricey
expensive

quaint
unusual and attractive, especially in an old-fashioned way

recruiter
someone who helps companies and organizations to find new people to work for them

seamlessly
done or made so smoothly that you cannot tell where one thing stops and another begins

sibling
a brother or sister

slogan
a short phrase that is easy to remember and is used in advertisements, or by politicians, organizations

solidarity
loyalty and general agreement between all the people in a group, or between different groups, because they all have a shared aim

squeegee
a tool with a thin rubber blade and a short handle, used for removing or spreading a liquid on a surface

strategy
a planned series of actions for achieving something

toddler
a very young child who is just learning to walk

underscore
to emphasize the fact that something is important or true
