Settlement

My favourite time of the year is winter. When the streets are covered with snow, people decorate their homes in anticipation of Christmas and family dinners, when children rejoice at their gifts and the house is filled with children's laughter.

Coming to Canada is one of the most challenging things I have ever done. My family’s journey to Canada was a rough trip. We were all alone in a new world ready to start all over, with no language skills fitted for the place or a place to stay. Due to the time difference between Canada and Ukraine, there were frequent cases of me having to handle time sensitive calls over nights from my parents, instead of sleeping. We left our family behind, friends and all our belonging to start all over again in Canada.
