As I mentioned in the Title, English is a key to your life.
I am a Mexican lady who grew up knowing only her native language. I have learned English very lightly until I went to High School, but I never thought how important and necessary it will be for my future and my development.
I am going to introduce my experience a little bit and I will share some advice below that has been working for me to learn more about this language.
I can easily remember my first days in Canada. I was living at my father-in-law wife’s house, they had family meetings every weekend and everyone was talking English, while I was just looking from one to other trying to understand what they were saying.
For a certain time, I was with a headache. They knew I did not know English, but for me, after couple week, even repeating some words, I learned from them. It was hard and I felt bad to not be able to express myself the way I wanted.
At this point I been in Canada for 7 years and now I can realize that I needed to practice more since the beginning. Many times, I stopped myself because I was afraid to say or pronounce something in the wrong way.
It Is very important to practice however much or little you know and without being shy about how you spell or pronounce English. Everything is a process and the more you practice you will get better and better.
After couple of years, I had the opportunity to start studying English by online classes and I am happy with it. It has been a great choice since I am working so I can fit my classes in my week schedule without having to leave home.
These days there are many ways to learn another language, try the ones that catch your attention the most, designate schedules to study it, understand that it will be a process and that like any process it will not be easy at first but enjoy it and after a while you will be proud of what you will be achieving.
