Yalda’s night is one of the oldest Iranian festivals that is celebrated every year in my country.
This celebration is held on the last night of the autumn season. Every family celebrates this event together or maybe some people celebrate it with their relatives. This celebration is the longest night of the year and will bring with it longer nights all winter, and the day after will be the first day of winter.
All family members gather together on this night and recite Hafez's poems to each other and the oldest members of the family tell old stories to others and stay awake all night. The main colors of this night are red and green. People wear clothes or decorate their homes in these colors.
People make delicious food and dessert, and the desserts will be in green or red colours.
The main fruits of this night are pomegranates and watermelons because the ancients considered pomegranates to be a source of blessing and fertility. With the end of the autumn season, it is very difficult to find watermelon because its season is ending. Even on Yalda night, it is sometimes difficult to find it. Other fruits of this night are persimmons and elderberries.
This night is important for me because I can make memories with my family and take photos.
