Heart in hands in a field of sunflowers in an embroidered shirt

My name is Liudmyla. I am from Ukraine, although I have been living in Canada for several years. But today I`d like to share not my story, but of our daughter and her family. A story similar to hundreds of others who woke up on 02.24.22 from bomb explosions and heard such a terrible word “WAR”.

Our daughter, in parallel with secondary school, graduated from music school, piano class.

After graduating from music college, she was invited to work as a piano teacher at the same music school. After that she graduated from university and after nine and half years of college and university education she received a higher music education, and she was offered to become the director of the same music school. At that time, she got married and raised a daughter with her husband.

Life was wonderful, interesting and happy. Both daughter and son-in-low were doing what they loved. In the evening with the family they talked about how the day went, made new plans. Their daughter Sofia delighted her parents with her piano playing. Holidays were spent with friends having fun with songs and jokes.

Later, Kateryna, that`s our daughter’s name, began to try herself as a Toastmaster and animator at various events.

I asked Kateryna if they wanted to move to Canada with us, but they refused, because they really had a happy life: own home, friends, job. Sofia studied music and dance.

But on 02.24.22 everything changed. No one understood what to do, how to live further, how long it would last…

Ultimately our children had to move to Canada, and they have been living here for two years now, but they left part of their soul and heart where they lived happily and did not want to change anything.

Today is already 1003rd day of the war. We pray every day for our relatives, our soldiers, our Ukraine. We believe in our Victory and say thank you Canada for giving our children the opportunity no to hear explosions every day.
