Last weekend, Thanksgiving Day, my friends and I went hiking at Rouge National Park, and we didn’t expect it to become such a dangerous experience. It was cold and windy that day, and in the morning, I noticed that it looked like it might rain, so I thought about canceling it. But then the weather changed to cloudy, so we decided to go ahead with our plans. It had been a while since we’d all seen each other, so we were excited to walk along the beach together. We walked quite a distance, but it was cold and windy, so we were thinking about turning back. However, my husband didn’t want to go back the way we came. He tried to find a way forward. And that’s when our adventure really began. He led us to climb a steep cliff nearby, but it was so steep and there was nothing solid to grab onto.
We climbed to the top of the mountain with great effort. When we heard the sound of cars from a nearby road, we tried to make our way toward it. However, to our surprise, there was no path leading to the road, a high fence blocked the pathway. We had no choice but to retrace our steps along the cliff. This time, climbing down was even harder than climbing up. I almost lost control and slipped, and I was afraid I would go down a short distance. After a tough and exhausting descent, we finally reached the beach again. Everyone was completely worn out. Looking at my shoes, I now realize that once white, now they are covered in grey dirt.
Despite the mess and exhaustion, this challenging adventure left an impression on us and will remain a memorable experience.
It is Thanksgiving Day, so I am grateful for coming back safely from an unforgettable journey.
