I have been working at a global company as a crane operator since 2022. This job consists of loading and unloading pipe lifts in different areas in the mill. I have a big responsibility of my coworkers, helping to keep the line target active and protecting them from any accidents. Sometimes I have busy days, other times easy days; everything depends on production and how the flow is each day.

Being a crane operator is the second job I have had in Canada. My first one was houseman and porter at Fairfield Hotel. My first job was interesting. I had been in town for just over a month and was desperate to find a job. I sent my resume out everywhere and was starting to lose faith in myself. One day, I was walking to the bus stop after having delivered some resumes. Then I decided to walk half an hour until I reached Fairfield. The snow was hitting my knees. When I arrived there, I could not believe such a beautiful place existed. Everything happened so quickly; I started to work there 3 days after dropping off my resume.

I am still working at a company I thought I would only be working a few months at. After I graduated, I thought I would find a position in the IT field, but I made a mistake in trying to start a new career here. Most companies require experience to enter the IT field. So, if you are thinking about coming to this country and starting a new career without experience, you will probably face a lot of obstacles before you achieve your goal.
