Since I have been pregnant, it has been a very peaceful and healthy pregnancy for me fortunately. I was worried about morning sickness and language wise before I got pregnant. Because I had two friends who struggled with morning sickness for their entire pregnancy just before I got pregnant. I had been having morning sickness for about 1 or 2 weeks in my first trimester. But that wasn’t too bad. Otherwise, I didn’t have much problem my whole pregnancy life so far. I think I am lucky. My doctor said that to me, too. The most struggled thing for me was learning new words. I didn’t know the pregnancy and baby words in my first language, either, because this was my first time being pregnant. So, I had to learn new words in both languages.
What I used for learning about pregnancy in English is listening to podcasts. I was listening to podcasts in my car every day. And then, I make a note out of it before the LINC classes. During the classes, my teacher and I talked about it based on what I wrote on that note and new words I got from the podcast. It was good listening training, and I learned a lot of vocabulary and knowledge about pregnancy. Now, I have a list of English pregnancy words I should know. I don’t remember every word to be honest. But I probably recognize if a nurse or doctor said the words to me. I am not worried about language wise for my labor. That’s how I prepared for my pregnancy. I hope it will be a wonderful experience.
