I come from Gujarat province in India where the wedding ceremony customs include the bride wearing a type of skirt called lehenga made with rich embroidery, which comes on top of the choli- the full dress. As jewelry, the bride wears bangles, necklace, earrings, and nose ring made of gold and also anklets made of silver.
The groom wears a costume called shervani and a head cover named pog. The jewelry for the groom is a simple necklace and a bracelet made of gold.
The wedding guests wear saris or lehenga for ladies and pants with shirt for gents. The wedding ceremony takes at least two hours when the groom and bride exchange seven vows around a fire. While exchanging the vows, the groom places a necklace around the bride’s neck, and this has the same significance as the wedding ring. Now they are husband and wife.
When the bride and groom enter the wedding party hall, all guests are dancing and clapping with music and sing songs to encourage and entertain them.
There are lots of different food items like spices and sweets. Most of the wedding ceremonies and parties last for two days.
After the two- day ceremony or later, the newlyweds go for a few days or one-week honey moon out of the province of Gujarat and sometimes they travel out of India.
