“There is only one pretty child in the world, and every mother has it. -- Chinese Proverb
Each one of us feels that our mothers are special to us, and I am not an exception. My mother is the person with whom I want to share my happiness with when I achieve success. At the same time, when I feel extremely upset or stressed, my mother is the only one I want to get consolation from even though I am already a parent. I can still remember many memorable moments spending time with my mother when I was a little boy. I was born and grew up in a remote mountain village in China before I went to high school. My family was extremely poor, and my mother always needed to go to pick firewood on her shoulders from a nearby mountain. I usually went with her. The trail in the mountain was very narrow and dangerous, and there was a wooden bridge under which there was a cliff on the way from the mountain to my home. Every time we needed to pass this bridge, I was always very scared for my mother or myself falling down. I will never forget that moment in which I felt I would lose my life or my mom’s when passing that bridge every time. These cherished moments always remind me that how hard it was for my mom to bring me up, and this makes me feel very grateful for her contribution in my growth.
I love my mother because she made me be a responsible and unselfish person. My mother was an uneducated woman because she was born in that special period in China where there were no schools in remote areas. However, she taught me a lot of precious qualities. She always told me to share things not only with my siblings, but also with adults. This taught me how know to share what I have with others. And, not being selfish is very so important for my family and me. In addition, she always encouraged gave me to make my own decisions and take responsibilities, and bear the consequences of my decisions. Over time, I learned to analyze and to make decisions more cautiously. Meanwhile, I became more and more responsible for my life. These qualities helped me to get a promotion much earlier than my university classmates in my first job. I feel thankful for my mom for playing such as an important role in my growth, and for this I will always be grateful to her and love her.
Good advice is always precious, and my mother always gave me very good advice. When I graduated from high school, I did not get a high score as I usually did. In addition, I applied for my favourite university based on my normal score. Because of my low score, I had to go to a lower-level university. I was extremely disappointed and felt like I was going to give up going to the university. My mother encouraged me by saying that a momentary failure does not mean a lifelong failure. She encouraged me to go to the lower-level university and put more efforts into my studies. She was sure that I would gain success when I graduate from the university. After struggling for several days, I took her advice and immersed in my major with a huge passion. As a result, I got a good job after graduating from university. From this experience, I learned to keeping fighting and never give up.
