I thought Canada should not celebrate this Canada Day because of the Indigenous children's the tragedy. The Indigenous children’s tragedy is that more than 1000 unmarked graves have been found across Canada at residential schools, which were the schools for Indigenous children to assimilate to Canadian society and there was a lot of abuse. But my mind has changed, in the end, for many reasons. First, Canada Day is the day Canada became independent from England. Since I am from a country that was a colony of Japan, I know how important Independence Day is. Independence means the freedom that I could speak my own language; I could wear my traditional clothes; I could teach the history of my country for my children and I could love my country. Second, Canadians must be disappointed about what Canada has done, but through the celebration, this could help to recover their minds and forgive what happened in the past and move on to build a better country. Third, various races live in Canada, today. I believe together Canadians could have more love and acceptance of all cultures for various people living in Canada through the celebration of Canada Day. Canada Day is an important day, and deserves to be celebrated. But this time, Canadians need to have a quiet celebration to show respect.
