Winter 2015

Seasonal

My favourite season is autumn. In Brazil, the autumn is a lot like the summer. In Canada, I can see a big difference in the colours of leaves on the trees in autumn compared to summer. I love to go to the park in autumn where I enjoy nature. Autumn is too short in Canada. It is supposed to be 3 months long, but we only seem to have it for a month or so. I start eating hot food more in autumn, like soup. I love to go out to coffee shops in autumn. We often stop at the Tim Horton’s on our way to the park.

I received a lot of warm clothes from people at our church when I arrived in Canada. I received new and second-hand items. Thanksgiving and Hallowe’en were new to us. Halloween was especially different here because all of the houses were decorated. In Brazil, homeowners do not decorate but businesses do.

Another difference is that a lot of kids go out to receive candies and chocolate here, but not in Brazil. Hallowe’en here is much more enjoyable here than in Brazil. I think winter is definitely my least favorite of the seasons.

Next year I might like winter because I will be staying home with a new baby and won’t have to go to work. I will drink my hot chocolate in my house and watch the snow fall outside!!! I will light a fire in the living room to keep us warm.
