Health

Moving to Canada was a big change for my lifestyle. It took me some time to adjust and find the best ways to keep myself healthy, and I would like to share my experience.

Firstly, I follow a balanced diet as recommended by Canada’s Food Guide, which divides the main plate into three main sections. Half of the plate is vegetables and fruits. One-quarter is whole grain, and another quarter is protein foods. It also emphasizes water as your drink of choice. As a vegetarian and a mom to a newborn, I see this diet is perfect and provides sufficient energy for my busy routine.

Secondly, I’ve tried to exercise every morning, following workout videos on YouTube for at least 30 minutes. I just choose simple practices, nothing complicated. Doing housework and gardening is also another type of exercise for me. This helps me keep fit without costing a penny.

Thirdly, to help my mental well-being, I meditate daily to calm my mind. This benefits me to be positive and see the bright sides of life.

Finally, I try to limit my screen time as much as possible. Instead of surfing the internet, I prefer to read books.  Spending quality time with my kids and talking to family members also brings me joy and helps reduce stress.

With the busy and often stressful life nowadays, it is quite hard for people to balance their working life and family. But it is said that where there’s a will, there’s a way. I hope that everyone can find their own paths to maintain a balanced and healthy life.
