Celebration

Eid Al Adha word with mosque ornament on wooden background for islamic festive celebration

My favorite summer holiday is Eid al-Adha, and I have celebrated it both in Afghanistan and in Canada. In Afghanistan, Eid al-Adha is very special. I used to celebrate it with my family and neighbors. We would wake up early, wear new clothes, and go to the mosque for prayer. After that we would do the Qurbani (sacrifice) and then share the meat with family, friends and poor people. It was a time for family gatherings, delicious food like kebabs and rice, and visiting relatives.

Now in Canada, I still celebrate Eid al-Adha with my friends. We go to the mosque for Eid prayer, and then we have a small party at home. Sometimes we do the Qurbani through an online service and we make Afghani food like Mantu, Kabuli pulao and kebabs. Even though it is different here I try to keep the same traditions and celebrate with joy and thankfulness.
