My new company is Steve and Evans, with its filial Cross Country Concrete.
I live in Kitchener, and my job is in St Jacobs. I drive 30 minutes every day to arrive at my work.
When I arrive at the company, I have to register for entry. Then, I go to the yard and meet with a coworker, who is a senior driver.
He has 25 years of experience in the company, and he is training me. This Friday, I finished my training, and on Monday, I will start to drive alone.
Every day, I start early in the morning. First, I do the circle check in the truck. Then, if the mixer truck is in good condition, I start it, while it's filling air in the tanks, and the engine is going warm, I use the tablet to fill out the forms for the circle check and use the program to do follow-ups with the drivers. Second, I put the drum in discharge mode to get rid of water or some animal or thing that, at night, had gone into the drum, and after two minutes, I put the drum in charger mode, and I will tell the dispatcher that I am ready to load. Third, the dispatcher put me on a list, and I need to wait when he calls and tells me, "truck number one, I will load you". Finally, I leave the batch with the load and prepare the slump according to the customer's wants. After that, I go on my way to deliver the concrete.
