Winter 2015

Travel (Outside of Canada)

I decided to visit my native town after 7 years living in Toronto. To give some details: I was born in Kazan. Kazan is the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan. Kazan is in central Russia and near Volga river. This is the biggest river in Europe. People use Tatar language for communication.

At the end of spring, as my work was not busy, I decided to take a vacation. I bought tickets, packed my things and boarded the plane. It was a very long trip.

First, I flew for 10 hours from Toronto to Cairo. Then 5 hours from Cairo to Moscow. In Moscow, there was a change of airports. I traveled 2 hours by train, and 1 hour by flight from Moscow to Kazan. By the end of my trip, I was exhausted. My old friend met me at the airport and he rode me home.

After a good night's sleep I felt rested. I didn't feel any jet lag, although the time difference between Toronto and Kazan is 7 hours. My wife and I went to visit my mother. I haven't seen my mom for 3 years and I miss her. My mother has a small summer house outside the city. This is really beautiful place. This house is located on the banks of the Volga river. There is a forest nearby. But it's an old house and so I had to work there a lot. Like any country house, it requires a lot of maintenance.

But I not only worked on summer house but also rested in too. I met with my old friends and classmates. Walked around the city and visited cafes. We even sailed on a small ship along the Volga River.

I had a really good time on this holiday. It's better to rest than to work, but money is running out, and it's time to go back to Toronto and start working again.
