Hello, everyone. I’m Daira. I have 2 kids; one girl and one baby boy. My daughter is 7 years old and my son is 3 months old.
We’re heading to Nintendo World in Orlando at the end of this summer, from August 18 to August 22! It’s our family’s first big vacation with both kids, and we couldn’t be more excited.
The main reason we chose this location is because my daughter is obsessed with Super Mario. So, when we heard about the Nintendo-themed park, we knew we had to make it happen!
I know that flying with little ones takes planning, patience, and time, so here’s how we’re getting ready:
- Flight: I picked flight times that work best with my kids’ routines to help keep moods as best as possible. Our flight is scheduled to leave at 7 AM. It is a direct flight which lowers the chances of meltdowns. And, we should arrive around 10 AM at our destination.
- Packing: We’re packing plenty of snacks in case the kids get hungry, coloring books for entertainment, and tablets with downloaded shows and games. We’ll also have soft blankets and a change of clothes, just in case of any accidents.
- Each child gets to bring one comfort item: For example, a favourite stuffed animal or blanket to help them feel secure on the plane.
If you’re planning your own theme park trip with little ones, here are some tips from me:
* Start getting them excited early: Involve them in the planning with countdown calendars or themed activities.
* Bring a stroller: Even if your kids are past the baby stage, theme parks mean tired legs.
* Stay close to the park if you can: Easy access makes a huge difference when you have little ones who need naps or breaks.
* Take breaks: It’s totally okay to slow down and recharge especially in the Florida heat.
* Pack light but smart: Overpacking can be overwhelming. Focus on the essentials: don’t forget sunscreen, hats, extra clothes, and a refillable water bottle.
