Outdoors

Have you ever heard about rock climbing? When I first heard about it, I thought it would be too difficult to enjoy as a hobby. However, once I tried rock climbing, I completely fell in love with it.

First of all, there are various levels from beginner to professional. Each climbing route that called a “problem” is marked with a different colour. Every three weeks, the climbing centre changes the problems so there’s always something new to try.

In addition, there are two main ways to enjoy climbing. One is lead climbing which always put harness on with the safety rope. This is perfect for beginners because the rope helps reduce the risk of injury. However, the walls are quite high. It is usually between 7 to 15 meters. The other one is bouldering which means you climb using your own strength to climb without rope or harness. The walls are shorter than lead climbing. The maximum height is about 4.5 meters. However, there is no safety equipment.

But still, it is so attractive to use own physical power to solve the problems.

In my case, I started with auto-belay system and harness. I really fell in love with the bouldering. You can feel huge sense of accomplishment when you solve the problem step by step. Also, everyone is cheer me up while I am solving the problem. We always support each other which creates a really supportive community. In conclusion, I highly recommend trying rock climbing as an activity once in your life.
