In Canada and Cameroon, the education system has two main parts. Francophone system for French-speaking and Anglophone system for English-speaking, because both countries are bilingual and both systems have public and private schools. Public schools are free but parents have to pay for uniforms and books. Private schools are so expensive.
In Canada, in Ontario, we have two systems: public and catholic systems. We also have francophone, English and French immersion schools. Education in Canada has strong focus on technology. Student in Canada have to pass some provincial test as mathematics and French in grades 3, 6, and 9. In Canada, the education have some plan for student with special needs.
I did some internships in French-speaking public and Catholic schools in Canada, and I was surprised that most of students speak English in the classroom. For this reason, teachers use some strategies to encourage them to express themselves in French in the class and during recess.I have noticed that students in Ontario can learn English if they go to French school. Students can learn French if they go to English school. They start in grade 1 and in others in grade 4.
