Community

One of my favourite memories is the celebration of “City Day" in my birthland, Ukraine. Every year, people in my village gathered at the local community center on the main street to commemorate the founding of the village. Each village, town, or city had its own traditions and local culture. I volunteered for 10 years to promote the event by creating posters and advertising it on social media. This family-friendly festival had a full entertainment program. It started with an official ceremony and a concert prepared by local folk artists, and it ended with dance parties. There was also a fair and food trucks. Everyone was happy and full of energy. I liked listening to Ukrainian traditional songs and watching kids’ comedy sketches and competitions, where everyone who wished could participate. I enjoyed eating locally made ice cream, especially since the festival took place in mid-July. One thing I didn’t like was the hot weather! Also, the place was crowded, and it was easy to lose your family or friends. This event was special for me because it brought the whole community together and connected us with the past. I felt proud of my culture, and I will always remember it.
