May is the month we have our annual Multi Cultural festival. I love taking part in the festivities. Its really great event where we can share and celebrate our different cultures.

Personally, I think it’s a great event you meet people from all walks of life. One gets to try new food and learn about other people and their culture as well. It’s nice to see families and communities come together and make this Festival a great success. I have met so many fellow South Africans at this event and it makes me happy to know they are here.

The opening of the festival starts with a prayer and the Canadian anthem which usually brings a tear to my eye. Then it’s the parade with different Countries flags. It’s amazing to see the vibrant colours and the atmosphere is just so jolly. I hope this event will inspire others to join us and make it happen every year for all our younger generation to see. It does take a lot of meetings and planning but it’s worth it at the end of the day.
