Celebration

Dashain is the biggest and most important festival in Nepal, my native country. We celebrate Dashain each year in October.

Last October, I celebrated Dashain in Canada. We celebrate the Nepalese festival in Canada. It was a time when families came together to enjoy and celebrate. We started by planting jamara (barley sprout) on the first day, called Ghatasthapana. On the tenth day, known as Vijaya Dashami, the elder put tika and jamara on our foreheads and gave us blessings. We wore new clothes, ate delicious foods like sel roti, and visited relatives. Children played on a traditional bamboo swing called a linga ping. The festival was full of happiness, and I enjoyed spending time with my family.
