Al-Malwiya in Samarra, Iraq is a place that left a lasting impression on me as a child. The desert landscape, the spiral minaret is unlike any building I've seen. Its shape gently winds upwards, making it interesting. The sandy color of the bricks blends perfectly with the land, almost like it's a part of the desert itself. When we visited, the sun had a warm glow over the structure and was a quiet feeling of history since it was built years and years ago and as if the Minecraft held many stories.
Exploring Al-Malwiya with my family and relatives made it even more special. We had a picnic, enjoyed snacks such as chips and fruits and after that we started to climb up the spiraling walkway. It was exciting, and each step felt like I did an accomplishment as we got closer to the top. Standing at the top, I felt calm but nervous at the same time, taking a wide view of the land. Then we stayed there and started sharing joy and laughing with my family in such an amazing place I made a very unforgettable favorite memory.
