My favorite genre of movies is docudrama, and I love the movies based on real stories. Sometimes it can be action movies but usually not. The last movie that I have watched is Air. It is a true, realistic story about how a sub-brand, Nike AIR Jordan was created.

This movie was made in 2023. The main actors were Ben Affleck (the owner and CEO of Nike) and Mat Damon (Manager of the basketball department). Sonny (Mat Damon) provided an offer to Michael Jordan, who was then a young basketball player but already played very well. Adidas, Converse and Nike wanted to sign a contract with him; but he took an offer from Nike. It was because Nike gave him the best deal. He got a Mercedes-Benz, 250,000 US dollars and royalties from the sale of every single shoe with his name on it, anywhere they are sold in the world. It was revolutionary in the sports industry. No one had done anything like this before.

My best-loved quote from the movie is, “A shoe is just a shoe until my son steps into it”, from Dolores Jordan, Michael Jordan’s mother.

This movie expanded my horizons. I think “AIR” is the best movie in 2023, without a doubt. Everyone can watch this movie on Amazon Prime Video. It is free if you are subscribed.
