My name is Silsila and I live with my family in Canada. There are 7 people in my family: my father, my mother and my 4 brothers. I was born in Afghanistan, I graduated from grade 12 in high school then I studied banking for 2 years and after, I did 3 years BBA. I left my country in 2018 with my family in Tajikistan. I lived for 4 years in Tajikistan. I was an English, Dari and math teacher. I came to Canada in 2022 in to Nanaimo city.
I started a new journey, traveling to a new country, and living among different people, cultures, or languages. I would like to share my memorable experience of a journey from Tajikistan with my family which I never expected.
In the beginning, I had no job and I felt strange to with Tajik people. I know it was a big challenge for me and my family. I was missing my country because I left my nice house, my school, and job; but I was happy about moving to a beautiful and safe country. Sometimes we need changes in our life to move on, by starting something new and trusting the magic of new beginnings.
I applied to the ITCC institution for a teaching position for other Afghan refugees in Tajikistan. I experienced an unbelievable life with my students. I was glad about all the recent changes in my life and enjoyed living a great life in a new nation.
Working in a foreign country makes people stronger. I am still thinking about this wonderful moment in my life and It's been 1 year since I came to Canada. I am working 2 days a week in customer service in a hospital and 5 days a week at the Nanaimo Golf Club as an AR (account receivable). I want to become an educated, rich and famous woman with a good personality. From the days that I was a student my dream job was to become a businesswoman. Fortunately, I am happy that I am in Canada and have a chance to start my school again and become the person that I want to be. I am a quiet and happy person.
