Shopping

Close up of a woman using a laptop and holding a credit card

One day I decided to buy a hairdryer. I spent on the internet more than 2 days to find information about it. After choosing one, I just bought it immediately. Everything seemed fine. I didn’t notice anything strange, and I was waiting for delivery of my new hair device.

During the night my phone started ringing. I woke up and noticed a lot of messages from by bank. When I opened them, I got shocked as there was stolen a lot of money from my account on different purchases. For example, $150 was spent on food in Germany, $100 was spent in Amazon, etc. I canceled some payments and blocked my card, but around $ 800 were already out of my account. For the rest of the night, I couldn’t sleep at all, and the first thing in the morning I did was to call to the bank.

The first question I got was “have you made any payments on unknown websites”? I realized right away that I even didn’t check reviews of the shop where from I bought the hairdryer. After few weeks of proving that I didn’t make any of those transactions and contacted the Police, my bank gave me back my money and unfroze my account.

Of course, I didn’t get any delivery of a hairdryer, and nobody gave me any response from the shop. The moral of my story is: never buy from sellers you don’t know, or at least check some reviews before your purchase.
