Driving

My friend Richard, who lives in America, Nebraska, and became my buddy, had lots of cars on his driveway. With each of them something was wrong, and one way or another, they were not drivable. Total number was 7 cars. I was quite shocked, although it's pretty normal picture in North America, as I found out.

The cars had different issues, from blown fuse, to complete rebuilding of suspension or engine. I'd been said by my friend, that I can have any of them or all. He wanted to get rid of that junk, as he thought, once for all.

I can't even describe how frustrated I was, standing in front of that driveway. Being couple of months in America, being a simple guy from Ukraine, I started to question myself. Why???

Why are people so dumb? Why do they waste so much? Why do they quit on environment? Where is the appreciation? How could you waste money and natural resources so easily? Hard to explain, in my eyes, half of those cars could roll down the highway for many years.

So, I started to fix the cars one by one. We sold almost everything he had. And the last one, I didn't even know much about, because it was sitting on the different place, was Toyota Camry 1993, manual transmission. That's a dream car for me. Did not look exciting, or interesting, but the most reliable car I have ever seen and heard of.

I put fresh fuel, battery, spark plugs and wires. And after seven years being abandoned, engine roar broke the silence. I was over the moon. I felt that car would be the best one. As it appeared, the reason why that car was abandoned was because my friend was too lazy to drive with manual transmission. I put some of my money into it. About eight hundred dollars were invested just to tune it up. I drove it for six months without any issues. Love that car, a product of intelligent engineering. Later on, my boss made me an offer, I couldn't refuse. I sold it.

As far as I know, that car still runs and drives.
