The last month of summer is always considered the time of harvest, and therefore the most difficult and requiring a lot of patience and work. Ukrainians know how to work well, but it is even better to rest. So the holiday of the spontaneity, which means the end of the harvest of wheat, barley and other grain crops, cannot be left without due attention.

This holiday of the harvest has its origins from the time when the Slavs were pagans and worshiped many gods who were their patrons in any undertakings. This holiday was always celebrated on the seventh day of the last summer month and was dedicated to the god Velez, who, according to legend, showed people that the earth is their breadwinner and taught how to work it. According to tradition, Spozhynkyis is celebrated every year on August 7th. On this day, farmers have finished harvesting wheat and other crops. All the sheaves were already tied and collected in the stables, and everyone gathered in the field, where they left a few uncut ears of corn. They were tied with a ribbon - they curled the "beard of Velez". The priests praised and thanked him. It is noteworthy that on this day it was forbidden to eat beef. The main food that day was apples, honey and grains.

In Ukraine, there is no state status for this holiday; each farmer determines when to celebrate this holiday. As a rule, in recent years it is celebrated on the first weekend of August. For example, sunflowers are harvested in autumn and the end is not marked. And on New Year's Day, farmer can harvests corn.

Harvest Festival is a holiday dedicated to the harvest, fertility and family well-being. By this time, field work is being completed: harvesting, exporting grains to barns, harvesting flax.
