Canada

I came from Taiwan, the island surrounded by the Pacific Ocean in the subtropics zone. The weather in my hometown has four seasons, and I thought the seasons should be like what I had in Taiwan until I moved to Canada. I have been in Canada for almost five years, and the weather still surprises me.

The temperature in spring is around -0 to 17 Celsius in Canada, which I never thought would be springtime before I came to Canada. In Taiwan, the coldest day in winter was -3 Celsius, and we barely have snow. Therefore, I think Canada only has three seasons if we compare it with Taiwan’s weather, which is winter, aummer and fall. It is my first time experiencing how the weather is like under – 30 or -40 Celsius. Although the winter condition is taught, the landscapes of Canada are still gorgeous, and Canadians are enjoying the winter. There are many winter activities, for instance, snowshoeing, skiing, snowboarding, snowmobile, sliding and ice fishing.

As Canada has vast land and 70% of land doesn’t exist in the human habitat, thus, Canada keeps its natural landscape very well. During the summertime, I visited Banff and Jasper national park; the scenes are breathtaking. Several lakes surround the Rocky Mountain, and each has its colour. It is nice to camp overnight, covered by nature and animals. As Canada has many maple trees, we can see the vibrant colour change of maple leaves everywhere in autumn.

All in all, each season in Canada has its character and is very attractive even when it has extreme weather conditions. As time goes by, I am getting used to the different weather and enjoy each season.
