Education

Engineer's workplace with notebook, tablet, glasses, sketching, smartphone, blue cup, croissant.

Nowadays, software application AutoCAD is very useful in engineering, architectural and construction fields because of its flexibility. Thus, I searched for Trade Schools, Colleges and Universities here in BC that offer this program. I would be interested in attending one of these programs.

For Trade School, I found BCIT. BCIT offers a Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technology Program. This program is a part-time studies course that will lead to a Certificate in Computer Aided Design Technology. The length of the program depends on course availability and the student’s planned schedule of course. You can do it quickly or slowly. The admission requirements for this program are a high school diploma. Graduates of this program can have lots of job opportunities in architecture and construction firms.

For college, I found Brighton College. Brighton College offers CAD Drafting for Building Certificate Program. This program is a full-time program. The length of the program is 16 weeks. Tuition fees for domestic is $8,400 and for international is $10,450.The admission requirements are a high school diploma .

Unfortunately, there is no university here in BC that offers AutoCAD or CAD Technology Programs.

Preferably, I would suggest the BCIT Program to a newcomer who has limited skills and money especially if he has a work visa. Since the BCIT Program is a part-time studies course program, he can work and study at the same time. Remember that hard work, dedication, patience and perseverance are the keys to success. I hope to attend one of these schools one day.
