Advice for Newcomers

After we arrived here in Chilliwack BC, there were many things we needed to organize to set up our new life here in Canada. First, we registered for the British Columbia Medical Services Plan to receive health care. Then, we applied for our Social Insurance Number to legally work here in BC. Also, we opened a bank account at a local bank here in our place. Aside from these, we looked for an apartment where we can stay and school for our children. Also, we went to Chilliwack Community Services and asked for some help and advice.
The advice I can give for newcomers is to find an organization or an immigrant-serving agency that can help them in several ways. They may provide language training, help to find housing or look for a job. And most of all, be patient because it’s always worth the wait.
So here are the steps for you. . First, look for a job offer. Then, apply for the Provincial Nominee Program. After you are approved, apply for Permanent Residency through PNP. Then, wait for the Confirmation of Permanent Residence and the Immigrant Visa. You need approximate C$10,000.00 for processing of documents and plane tickets.
There are many things you need to organize to set up your new life in Canada. Once you get to Canada, you'll need to get a bank account, a driver's license, and a social insurance number. You'll need to find a place to live, a school for your children, and you may need the services of immigrant-serving organizations.
The advice I can give for newcomers is work hard and be patient because it’s always worth the wait!
