My name is Ahlam. My ethnicity is Jabarti which is an ethnic group in Eritrea. My family heritage is Eritrean, but I was born in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. My parents left Eritrea due to a civil war in the 1970s. I finished high school and went to university for 3 years in Saudi Arabia.
I married another Eritrean man who was in Saudi Arabia, and we applied for a visa to the US. Then, we came to Canada.
I came to Canada on November 3rd, 2016. It was cold. When the snow started, it was the first time for me to see snow. It was like a dream.
Now, I am a full-time homemaker with 3 beautiful kids. I want to be a professional chef in the future.
In using English, I feel that I am good in listening and reading, but the difficult part for me is speaking and writing because it needs
more new words and grammar. That is what I am missing. I want to do more practice in grammar to help me improve.
