Like in all other countries, to legally drive in Canada you need a driver’s license issued by the government of your province. Once you get it, you are legally allowed to drive anywhere in Canada. Canada has driving rules that are good for both drivers and pedestrians, and clear steps for people who are getting their driver’s licenses for the first time. The rules and steps that you need to follow to get your driver’s license are very logical, simple to follow, help new drivers feel more confident when practicing and also help new drivers become more responsible before getting their full licenses.
The first step that you should start with in order to get your license in Canada is to read a driving theory book and take a written exam that tests your knowledge of driving rules and road signs. After that you should take a vision test. Once you pass both the driving theory exam and vision test you will get your L driver’s license. With the L driver’s license, you are allowed to drive on the road with some restrictions that you must follow; one of them is that there must be at least one person sitting at the front with you who has his/her full driver’s license. After you practice driving on the road for a minimum of a year, then you can take the road test. If you pass the road test, then you get your N license. With your N driving license, you are allowed to drive alone, without a fully licensed driver in the car but still there are some restrictions that you need to follow. Finally, after having your N for a minimum of a year, you can take the road test and get your full license.
The reason why I said the rules and steps to get a driver’s license in Canada are logical and simple to follow is that because in some countries they do not have all these simple rules and steps that Canada has that make it easier for a learner to drive. For instance, in some countries they do not offer licenses for L and N learners. Therefore, learners are not allowed to drive on the road at all before getting their full licenses. The only way they can practice before getting their full licenses is with driving companies, which are much more expensive than in Canada. Therefore, people do not practice much before getting their full licenses in these countries. As a result, they are more likely to cause accidents when they get their full licenses and are driving alone.
In conclusion, having a driver’s license is very essential nowadays and driving safely is very important. Being a responsible driver saves not only your life but also the lives of other passengers and other drivers. Do your best to drive smart and safely.
