Celebration

May White Office Calendar 2020 Isolated on White

In my home country, Korea, we celebrate Coming-of-Age Day the third Monday in May every year. It is an anniversary designated to remind people of their responsibilities as social workers and to make them feel proud as adults. According to historical records, it began in 995 when the king dressed the prince, who became an adult in new clothes, but only upper-middle-class people maintained this custom and celebrated all young people who turned 19 from 1973 onwards.

On Coming-of-Age Day people receive three gifts - perfume, roses, and kisses - from others. Each of these gifts has its own meaning.

First, the perfume symbolizes being a good person to others, just like a good perfume that spreads a good scent. People choose a brand of perfume that they think will suit the adults they give them to.

Second, roses, especially red roses, symbolize love and passionate. It is a gift given to young people who are filled with burning passion and anticipation for love, meaning to love truly. If you see a lot of young people holding roses on the street on a particular day in May, you will know "Today is Coming-of-Age Day!"

Finally, a kiss symbolizes responsible love. You have to remember that you are old enough to be responsible for your actions. The best thing to do will be to kiss someone you love.

However, these days, people get a watch to control their time well and a candle to control their anger.
