There were many great moments at the opening of the Olympic games. It was a rainy day in Paris, but nothing could dampen the spirits of thousands of athletes. The opening ceremony started off with a bang as the French flag exploded in smoke on a bridge. Then, as the parade of nations began with each country’s athletes traveling into the Stadium by boat. Also, a masked torch bearer was running through the city carrying the Olympic flame over rooftops and bridges. Then robotic horses carried the Olympic flag bearer down the river to the stadium where the Olympic flag was officially raised. When the flame was finally lit it was on a gigantic balloon that floated up above the city. Celebrities such as Celine Dion, Nakamura and Lady Gaga took part in the opening ceremony. This opening ceremony was exciting.
