A close-up of physiotherapist exercising with senior patient's leg in a physic room

I was born in a village of district Moga in the Punjab state of India. I had a good childhood with siblings and cousins. From childhood, I lived in an extended family with mom and dad, grandparents, and uncle’s family. I started schooling at Kot-Ise-Khan (a town close to our village) from a Junior Kindergarten. So many friends I met at school, and it gave me a lot of experiences and knowledge about the universe, social life, and a good base to develop plans for the future. After studying continuously in the same place, I completed 12th grade of schooling, and the time came when I had to choose the path on which I had to make a carrier.

So far everything was good, but it was a tough time to choose a field and I was very confused because most of my friends were choosing engineering and only a few of us were into medical stream. The goal was to become a doctor but unluckily the national entrance exam to get the admission was too difficult for me. I wasted one year in preparation to the exam and a year in pharmacological studies.

Some good suggestions came from my cousin who is a chief medical officer in a hospital, and I heard about physiotherapy. After some studies and discussions on physiotherapy I decided to join the course. It was 4.5 years long course that gave me a good knowledge about the health problems and their treatments. I decided to pursue Master’s in physiotherapy graduating in sports and medicine. It was a brilliant experience of life, while doing that course I worked as a physiotherapist for athletic and for archery teams in my university. The other plan for my life was to obtain Ph.D. but things changed, and I emigrated to Canada.

I like nature, people and the living style in Canada but sometimes I am disappointed because in Canada to work as a physiotherapist I have to pass a special exam. Sometimes, I feel frustrated, but I think it’s a part of life. I hope everything is good in future and things rest in hands of God.
