Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems are designed to learn from experience, recognize patterns and make decisions based on input data. AI has positive sides, especially when scientific discoveries were first made with its help, but it also has negative sides.

Positive sides:

  • With proper programming, errors can be reduced to zero.
  • AI and robots can perform dangerous tasks instead of humans: defusing explosives, flying into space, exploring the deepest parts of the oceans.
  • AI does not need rest and a break for lunch; it never gets sick in the human sense and does not sleep.
  • AI has given a powerful impetus to numerous innovations. Unmanned vehicles use a combination of cameras, sensors and artificial intelligence algorithms.
  • AI is devoid of emotions, and therefore very practical and rational in its decisions.
  • AI can check documents for errors, send letters, paint, package, etc. A person with the help of AI can get rid of the routines and focus on creative activities.
  • AI has made a significant contribution to the development of modern medicine - from improving the efficiency and accuracy of diagnosis and treatment to the creation of new drugs and clinical trials. Robotic surgical systems perform complex procedures with incredible precision.

Negative sides:

  • High costs: AI runs on the latest expensive hardware and software.
  • It is impossible to teach AI to think outside the box. So far, AI is capable of self-learning only on the basis of previously obtained data and past experience.
  • Robots are often used to replace human resources in manufacturing plants, so unemployment is growing.
  • A person who is dependent on Artificial Intelligence becomes lazy.
  • The human connections that form the basis of work teams cannot be replaced by machines.
  • AI can repeatedly perform the same task, but if you need any adjustments or improvements, you need to manually change the system code.
