I participated in a two-week online job search workshop called Achev. Career Success for Racialized Newcomer Women-CSRNW. The workshop was designed to assist newcomer women who have completed their education outside of Canada and are seeking job opportunities in their respective fields.

While I was on maternity leave, I decided to upgrade my skills and expand my network. I enrolled in a workshop where I met my coach, Maya, on the first day. Maya introduced us to the workshop norms and all the participants. We also had an activity on personality dimensions and success stories. In my group, 12 internationally trained women joined the workshop to search for jobs in their field of expertise.

During the workshop, I learned a lot about personality dimensions, networking, and finding job opportunities in my area of expertise. I also learned how to write effective resumes and cover letters that align with job duties and responsibilities. Moreover, I gained knowledge about the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and my essential skills, which helped me create my ES Portfolio.

I recently attended a webinar that aimed to improve my proficiency in both English and French languages. The workshop also provided valuable insights into the government's initiatives for newcomers who are trained in their respective fields. The overall experience was incredibly informative, and it has given me more confidence in my job search. I would like to suggest that all newcomer women should also join this program to find their dream job in their desired field.
