Information Technology, or in short IT, is the field in which I chose to be a professional and work. My name is Henrique, and I am a senior IT business system analyst with around 16 years of expertise in SAP solutions provided by the SAP company, a German company famous for creating powerful ERP systems.

In my current position at OpenText company, I am responsible for supporting the internal client, which basically is the business area. Being a collaborative bridge between SAP teams and business stakeholders enables me to identify gaps and improve system usability, ultimately driving greater user satisfaction. I have successfully led, coordinated, and participated in numerous SAP S/4HANA and ARIBA implementations, enhancement and acquisition projects.

I am glad to hold this position, and I can tell you it was difficult to find. I would say this was a mix of opportunity, persistence and, for sure, knowledge. After I finished college here, I could not find anything in IT, even with all my background experience from Brazil, where I started my career; nothing was working. I had numerous interviews and nothing, many would say - “sorry, we cannot proceed with your application” or “sorry we just accept PRs” and so on.

However, one day, I got a famous job offer from one of the biggest banks in Canada, the RBC. As mentioned before, it was a combination of opportunity, persistence and knowledge. I can confess I was about to quit and return to my country. On the day of my application, I saw the job description and thought these tasks and responsibilities were the same as what I did before moving to Canada; this position was mine.

If you want to leverage your opportunities to find a great job in Canada, please find the tips below. These are 3 key points that you must have:

First, create a live curriculum. Yes, live! Because you will update it accordingly with the position you are applying for.

Second, you must have a LinkedIn profile. I don't need to tell you that most companies look for candidates here before anything else.

Third, interview time - be prepared, and study the company and the position you are applying for.
