Writing is a critical skill in learning English. ESL learners need to master this skill if they aim to succeed in academics or the office. But, some barriers make them abandon practicing writing. In my view, these barriers are grammar, vocabulary, and learning habits. So, let me share the reasons.

Firstly, most ESL learners feel it is hard to learn grammar due to the rules and structure needed to remember. Moreover, they do not correctly approach learning grammar if they study by themselves. Furthermore, they use some writing templates with complex sentence structures above their level. Hence, they cannot write good sentences and suffer from writing badly at the first stage of learning.

Secondly, ESL learners do not have a rich vocabulary to write. That is the reason why they cannot explain their ideas when writing. Lacking new words also affects content when they try to write. In addition, this will not provide opportunities for a variety of word usage. Therefore, ESL learners will halt writing.

Thirdly, writing new ideas never comes easily to the learner's mind. It takes time to think and write, so they do not prefer to practice. Likewise, they do not have the momentum to write. So, the skill will fade with time if they do not practice frequently.

In conclusion, ESL learners must have learning habits consistently . They should try to write and read articles to learn grammar, writing style, and vocabulary. They will improve their writing skill in the future this way.
