One of my favorite seasons is winter. I enjoy everything about winter. I hang out with my friends during winter more than in any other season. We do lots of activities together, like hiking up the mountain, snowshoeing and walking at night on the streets that are decorated with bright lights.
During my first winter, my friends and I decided to go hiking up the mountain. During that week, it snowed heavily almost every single day; the weather was so cold, and the snow was about 15 cm high. We prepared ourselves; we took our snowshoes, dressed well and drove to the hiking place. There was one blue car parked in the parking lot to go hiking and no other cars around; this tells you that there were not many people hiking up the mountain at that time. We parked our cars and took our backpacks and started to hike up the mountain. I had no idea about the area; I was just following my friends, walking behind them. I walked a short distance behind my friends, taking selfies every now and then; I was so happy taking in the scene around me. After walking many kilometers, the trail we were walking on split into two trails, right and left. I did not know the direction my friends had taken as there were footsteps on both trails. So, I just took the left and started to walk faster than before but I was not able to see them. I tried to call their names loudly, but no one heard me. Then, I decided to go back and walk on the other trail. When I started to walk down the other trail, I found two people walking in the opposite direction I was walking. I asked them if they had seen my friends on their way and they said they had not seen anybody. There was no way for me to figure out how to walk back to my car on my own, so I asked them if the blue car in the parking lot belonged to them. Fortunately, they said that yes, it was theirs, so I headed to the car with them. I had no phone to message or call my friends so just I waited for them in my car.
Finally, my friends came back to their cars much later than they had anticipated they would. They were happy to find me in the car but, at the same time, they were mad at me. Before heading home, we talked about the incident and we agreed to do a few things whenever we hike together. One of them was if someone gets lost, he/she should return to his/her original location and find a visible spot to wait. From that day on, we followed our plan and tried to make our hiking as safe as possible.
