My First Camping in Canada

In the Snow Kingdom called Canada, there is still a beautiful and magical summer. Now is the best season, and the best way to hug nature is to go camping and enjoy yourself in forests, lakes and waterfalls, getting you away from TVs, computers and phones.
On August 4, our family set out to camp in Killarney Provincial Park, a few hours north from Toronto, for four nights. There were three people including my 19-month-old daughter. Killarney Provincial Park is beside Lake Huron. The park also has a few small lakes surrounded by beautiful islands and they have warm and clear crystal water.
It was our first-time camping, so we didn’t have experience, but we learned a lot from the Internet. We prepared a tent, sleeping bags and also a fold up bed to avoid moisture and cold from the ground. The park was more than 20 miles away from the city, so we also needed to prepare plenty of food.
At the park they have bears (I didn’t see one), deer, and a lot of small animals wandering around, so you need collect all the food in the car at night and throw away the garbage on time so as not to attract them to seek food. I saw a team of five raccoons lined up and they entered the camp, sniffing the ground, climbing on the car’s roof, and once digging out the stroller I left outside.
The beach was just few minutes’ walk away. It was really awesome and playing in the water was pleasant. Not far away there was a cliff for diving, kids jumped into the water repeatedly and the laughter echoed in the valley. People were also paddling canoes on the lake. In the water, we even saw a big turtle with a crocodile tail.
The sun was shining and my baby was walking by the water with her dad. I had a cup of tea and a book; what could better than that?
Ontario has many magnificent scenic places and campgrounds. If you haven't been camping before, don’t miss the best season, and plan your first trip. However, summer camping reservations are very popular, please remember to book in advance.
