Eid al-Fitr is my favorite celebration in our Muslim culture. It is at the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting. The fun begins with the revealing of the new moon, followed by the Salat al Eid in the morning. We gather together to show our gratitude to Allah. We wear our best clothes, we exchange warm wishes of Eid Mubarak which means blessed Eid, then we visit our family and friends in our day, and share delicious Kaak filled with dates and chocolate, which is why it is called the Sweet Eid. Beyond the food and the EDIYA for us kids, its money given for the kids from the elder people, and then we do the Zakat El FIter, that’s what we call it when we give charity to the people in need, and it represents the kindness in our heats, forgiveness, and our humility.
