I will tell you about a national holiday, which has existed for more than one thousand years. This holiday is called Sabantuy. It is celebrated by Tatars, Kazakhs, Bashkirs and some other peoples. It is also called the festival of the plough, because it is celebrated before sowing. Previously it was celebrated in villages but now it is also celebrated in cities.

In Tatarstan Sabantuy is celebrated in the second half of June. Usually on Sunday.

You can see a lot of interesting things at the festival. Such as horse racing, wrestling and other competitions. You can also try national Tatar cuisine. Tatar national cuisine is very tasty and has a lot of variety. At Sabantuy you hear Tatar national music and songs. Many people wear national clothes on this holiday.
