Celebration

Miniature people : Worker team building word Labor day on wood background

In India the Labor Day is known as the May Day, which is celebrated on May 1st. The concept is the same, to honor and celebrate the contributions of workers. It is observed as a national holiday. Various events are held throughout the day to raise awareness of workers’ rights. Unlike Canada, there is no minimum wage per hour law which in my opinion is a major problem in the system. There is no concept of the unemployment insurance either. If people lose their jobs, there is no aid from the government. They are on their own. Unions are legal in India but they are not that popular.
