Health

New ideas, sharing, creative thinking, mental health concept. Mental health day. Wooden cubes isolat

The World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that globally one out of every four people will be impacted by poor mental health or mental illness at some point in their lives. Have you taken a deep look around you? Maybe a close friend or family member, or even you could be suffering with mental health or burnout. What can you do to support it?

When checking-in on friends and family, search for comportments to identify if someone needs help, approach the person, and offer to have a conversation or a drink. Acknowledging mental health issues is the first step during this journey and having a friend or family to take your hands and support could be very helpful. A professional can support you during this difficult time and maybe medicine needs to be used, however a lot of useful home remedies may also work. Ecotherapy, a therapeutic treatment involving activities in nature can help as well. Another option is practicing meditation, developing good habits and exercise.

During this process you will identify people that think mental health is not serious, but just a social problem. Some people could feel shame for having poor mental health, however it is our obligation to support and educate, if this person is alone, without support, that could be worst.

As you can see, mental health issues can be very dangerous to people’s lives and is also more common than you can imagine. In Canada, there is awareness, but there are still opportunities to improve the accessibility for treatment. That is why we should support our loved ones and suggest practicing ecotherapy, home remedies etcetera to develop good habits. Mental health doesn’t emphasize your weakness, it emphasizes your strengths to be brave and ask for support.
