Celebration

Chinese New Year Couplet

Lunar New Year is the most important holiday in Great China Zone and some other Asian countries. First of all, it's the real end of the past year and beginning of the next year on solar terms. Climate cycles from this exact day. Secondly, like the western Christmas, it's the time for these Oriental family members to gather together. We bring gifts to each other, cook a traditional feast together and enjoy it at the Lunar New Year's Eve. We make long distance video calls to greet each other when we cannot reunite physically. Almost everyone has good wishes for the new year at this meal. Thirdly, we set off firecrackers while Westerners prefer fireworks more. Legend says that it's the loud noise of firecracker explosion that scares away the bad luck symbolized by a monster. Lastly, relatives visit each other over the next few days with new dresses on and send gifts mutually. Business partners give out calendars with their own company pictures inside. Everybody enjoys Lunar New Year.
