Borscht is a soup that is not only tasty but also very healthy. In my native country, Ukraine, it is one of the most popular dishes.

Ingredients

Potatoes 3, onion 1, carrot 1, garlic, meat (pork or beef) 400 grams, beet 1, salt and pepper according to taste, tomato paste 2 tablespoons, oil 1 tablespoon, a little vinegar, cabbage.

Cooking instructions

  1. Start cooking the broth. Pour cold water into the pan, add the meat, and put it on medium heat, then when the liquid t boils, cover the pan with a lid and simmer for an hour and a half.
  2. Prepare to sauté the vegetables. Wash and peel the beets, carrots, and onion. Grate the beet on a large grater and the carrots on medium. Cut the onions into small cubes. Pour the oil into a frying pan, and turn on the heat at medium flame. Sauté onions and carrots, stirring for about 5 minutes. Then add the beets. Add citric acid, vinegar, or lemon juice as well. Cook Borscht for 5 minutes. After that, add tomato paste, stir and leave on the stove for another 5-7 minutes.
  3. Put shredded cabbage into a new pan with the meat. After 5-10 minutes, add s sliced potatoes or cubed. Add the broth and stir. Throw away bay leaf and finally add chopped greens. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 5-7 minutes.

Borscht is ready. Enjoy!
