Homeland

The chinese village of Mae Salong in Chiang Rai province of Northern Thailan

Hmong are people who like to live in the mountains. Thousands of years ago, Hmong lived in China. But there was a battle, the Hmong lost to the Chinese and fled from China to Vietnam and moved to Laos, then to Thailand for many years. Next, they immigrated to America, Canada, France, Australia and Germany. When we came here, everyone was educated and did everything just like everyone else. Even though the Hmong do not have a country, we have our own culture and language. We can do everything just like everyone else. Some became doctors, teachers, lawyers and nurses. And some have their own businesses and homes. This year, Sunisa Lee became the first Hmong in the world to win a gold medal in the Olympics. I am proud to be born as a Hmong and will teach my children that we are Hmong.
