Jeongeui confucian school at Seongeup folk village at Jeju island, Republic of Korea

Many high school students in Korea study hard every day. Koreans believe that studying is very important. Many students go to university. High school students, especially, go to private academies after school to study.

When I was in school, I usually left school at 10 o’clock in the evening. Now, students finish earlier, and most of the students go to private academies after school to do more studying.

When I was in school, I carried two packed lunches. Now, most students in Korea have free lunches in school. School meals include rice, soup, three side dishes, and snacks.

My children now miss the delicious school meals in Korea. School lunches are different in Canada. Now, my children are carrying packed lunches to school in the same way that I carried them to school in Korea many years ago.
